CNC 5-Axis Machinist

Pegbox Recruitment is looking for a skilled CNC 5-Axis Machinist to join our client’s busy machine shop’s day shift.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the UK’s undisputed composite manufacturing champions.

Reporting to the Machine Shop Manager, you will play a key role in programming, setting, and operating 5-axis CNC machines to produce high-quality parts for various applications.

What you will be doing:

• Set up and operate 5-axis machining CNC machines
• Working on epoxy / Polyurethane (PU) patterns, fixtures, and carbon components
• Program and edit CNC code to produce varied and complex high precision parts
• Carry out routine maintenance to keep machines running smoothly
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to define machining requirements
• Inspect parts to ensure they meet the required specification and high-quality standards
• Follow SOPs to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Troubleshoot, solve and document any machining issues that might occur
• Maintain clear records of production runs, settings, and tool changes
• Stay up to date with the latest CNC machining techniques and technology
• Support with other tasks and teams when needed

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

• Solid track record as a CNC Machinist, especially with 5-axis machining
• Skilled in programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines
• Strong understanding of machining processes and materials
• A keen eye for detail and great problem-solving skills
• Good communication and a team-first attitude
• Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to a safe workplace
• Flexibility to work overtime when production demands
